A sense of mission or purpose gives meaning and significance to our lives. Purpose is the driving force that gets us through many of the hardships that we face, but many of us have not clearly defined our mission to live life as purposefully as possible.
“He who has a why to live for can bear almost any how.” ~
As you develop a mission in life, you also develop a greater motivation to work towards your goals. Purpose is derived from passion, which can drive you to ultimate success if you harness it correctly. Development of a mission for your life is crucial, and aligns every aspect of your being and points them towards your purpose. A purpose takes you away from the endless cycle of existence and motivates you to move ahead with intention and direction. To live with a sense of destiny is a very powerful thing! It helps you to stay focused and gain momentum towards your goals.
How do I begin to define my purpose?
One of the best ways to create a sense of purpose for your life is to develop a Mission Statement. This will serve as a guide by which you live. When developing a mission statement, it is important to keep in mind what you hope to achieve on every level in your life. This statement will anchor your actions and decision in the values and principles that you hold precious.
“A mission statement is not something you write overnight, but fundamentally, your mission statement becomes your constitution, the solid expression of your vision and values. It becomes the criterion by which you measure everything else in your life.” ~Stephen Covey
What do you value most? Happiness? Joy? Empathy? Your mission statement can be a very short affirmation that encompasses your values in a simple way— but it has to hold weight in your life and bring clarity to any situation. Think about your goals, your values, and your purpose when putting it together, and you’ve already begun a recipe for success.
The biggest tip of all in order to complete your mission statement? Write it down! Every thought, brainstorming session, or goal outline. Write it down for future reference! You may never know how important a small thought was if you can’t reference it later.
“You are here for a special mission. There is a purpose of your life. Find that purpose of your life, work on it and live your life happily.”~Raaz Ojha
