Life is full of transitions. Sometimes it seems like the crazy occurrences in our lives all happen at once, and we get thrown off track with our goals. Many of us think of the straight-line approach when we think about achieving our goals— but life isn’t like that.. It comes with ups and downs and crazy left turns when we’re least expecting it. Just when you think you’ve got it all figured out, something unexpected changes the whole game. And repeat. That’s life.

“Life at any time can become difficult: life at any time can become easy. It all depends upon how one adjusts oneself to life.” ~Morarji Desai

Considering how life can throw ridiculous curve balls when you least expect it, mid-course corrections are a necessary action to achieve your own version of success. In order to reach your goals, it is vital to learn how to respond  to the needs around you and revise your actions accordingly in a consistent manner— in other words, “Realign Rigorously!”

When life seems to all happen at once, it can be easy to feel overwhelmed and start reacting without thinking, but these moments require you to take a step back (kind of like counting to 10 when you’re frustrated) and think about  perspective. When we realize our position in relation to our situation, we begin to understand what role we can play to make the best of it and create the optimal outcome that puts us in line with our values to reach our goals.

“Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass. It’s about learning how to dance in the rain.” ~Vivian Greene

Here are some tips to help you Take Back Your Power and Adjust Your Sails to life’s changing winds:

  1. When you feel overwhelmed or that you can’t keep up with life’s demands, take a second and think about your goals. What is your purpose? What are you working towards?
  2. Think of actionable steps you can take TODAY to get out of the overwhelmed mindset. Simple steps can cascade into leaps and bounds if we keep adjusting and working towards our goals. Small daily goals keep us on the right track.
  3. Make a list of three bigger goals weekly that can put you back in control of your success. Repeat weekly.

“All great changes are preceded by chaos.” ~Deepak Chopra

Realigning takes practice. Without consistency, a boat can’t keep on its course. Realigning paired with consistent diligence is what keeps us on our path to success. Having a positive attitude in the midst of chaos is also a helpful asset to your journey. Adjust your sails and keep moving forward! Believe you can and you’re well on your way.
